JEO 5 - 4 ODW

Clouds darkened the skies at Paul Brown Stadium as 1127 spectators turned up for the match. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mattia Di Mauro and Torbjörn Rosener. The match took place on neutral ground. JEO started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Babbi - Vinge, Blondel, Grönros - Skytte, Köllő, Atserà, Baran, Monlouis - Wcześniak, Chalco.

ODW had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Lövholt - Pfeninger, Wanders, van de Tonnekreek, Rangel - Deckers, van Dam, Ernst, Angenent - Romagnoli, Kersten.

Today, JEO's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks, taking advantage of their outstanding level with that tactic. 5 minutes into the game ODW managed a counterattack, but Radboud Kersten took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. 32 minutes in, JEO's Ted Monlouis received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 35 minutes, the JEO coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Lech Baran off the field. Emin Muhammet Güçlü took his place. The suddenness of the ODW's Juan Antonio Ernst's pass to Radboud Kersten after 36 minutes caught the opposition wrong-footed, and they could only watch as the ball sailed home for 0 - 1. Juan Antonio Ernst's lack of experience almost gave JEO a goal after 38 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. JEO's Ted Monlouis almost tied things up with 39 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post. After 40 minutes JEO's Arnaud Blondel limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. JEO had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. It was 0 - 1 at the break. JEO enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

After a scuffle in the guests' penalty area 58 minutes into the game, the home team was awarded a penalty. Ted Monlouis scored to make it 1 - 1. Ted Monlouis was very close to giving JEO the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 62 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, Konrad Wcześniak scored for JEO putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 67 minutes. The visitors refused to give in and, after 77 minutes, Domenico Romagnoli evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 2 - 2 After 79 minutes, the defensive line of ODW created a counterattack through the middle that gave Radboud Kersten a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. With 81 minutes played Pep Lluís Atserà almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. JEO had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time. There was still no winner after 30 minutes of extra time so the teams had to select a lineup for a penalty shoot-out to settle the result.

JEO's Ted Monlouis made no mistake. Jarl Lövholt didn't have a chance. 3 - 2. ODW's Rutgerus Angenent looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 3 - 2. Clearly nervous from the start, JEO's Emin Muhammet Güçlü took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 3 - 2. ODW's Radboud Kersten didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of Alessandro Babbi. The score remained 3 - 2. JEO's Arnaud Blondel looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. ODW's Ewoud Wanders was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 3 - 3! JEO's Visa Grönros kept his cool as he faced down Jarl Lövholt. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 4 - 3. ODW's Cees Jan van Dam coolly put the ball past Alessandro Babbi. 4 - 4. JEO's Konrad Wcześniak showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 5 - 4. Oooh - how unlucky! ODW's Rik Deckers attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of Alessandro Babbi. The score stays 5 - 4. Antonio Jesús Chalco performed admirably for JEO. However, Alessandro Babbi made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating ODW player was without a doubt Rutgerus Angenent. Jarl Lövholt turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 4.
